The MCAVHN Giving Program
While we work to reduce Opioid Overdose and other health associated harms in our communities daily we find that the holidays are especially painful for many of the people we serve. Many have very little daily comforts and are unhoused, surviving below the poverty rate. Some persons served are housed yet face severe challenges daily due to the increased cost of living and have school age children with unmet needs.
Our holiday function is to hold a Holiday Party for children of our clients and clients of other agencies. We collect a list of children and their gift wishes so Santa (aka retired sheriff Tom Allman) can bring the right ones. Our team shops for the gifts then wraps each one in preparation for the party. Our Holiday Party also includes dinner and holiday desserts for all who attend. There are usually 60-70 children gifted and a dinner attendance of 125 or so. After the party meals are brought to Building Bridges for those persons being sheltered. In support of the Holiday Party we would appreciate any monetary donations as well.
