The MCAVHN Giving Program
While we work to reduce Opioid Overdose and other health associated harms in our communities daily we find that the holidays are especially painful for many of the people we serve. Many have very little daily comforts and are unhoused, surviving below the poverty rate. Some persons served are housed yet face severe challenges daily due to the increased cost of living and have school age children with unmet needs.
In support of all persons we serve we developed a MCAVHN Giving Program to feed and gift those in need. Traditionally, MCAVHN serves dinner on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, this year November 22, 2023. The holiday dinner is what you would expect—turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, miscellaneous sides, and pumpkin pie. Some dinners are delivered to places like Willow Terrace, Building Bridges and Live Oak Apartments. Some clients come to the door. Some individuals receive their holiday dinner out on the streets or in a homeless encampment. Some meals are delivered directly to homes. The work to create and deliver the dinners is all done by staff, board and volunteers. Our team gathers together, shops for food and then cooks this meal.
What is sorely needed is cash to buy the food or actual food and materials donated. Costco, Co-op, and Safeway have already stepped up. If you would like to partner with MCAVHN to support the Thanksgiving Dinner you can join us by using our Donation Form below or by sending a check to:
